The beaches we mainly use are Park Beach (Park is in Dodges Ferry at the end of Carlton Beach away from the river mouth) and occasionally Clifton Beach.  Park Beach and Clifton Beach are the closest surfing beaches to Hobart, each about a 35-minute drive from the city centre.

For group bookings or holiday camps we are willing to travel to other beaches all over Tasmania — call us and we’ll work something out.

Park Beach

Driving Directions:

From Hobart take Tasman bridge and follow signs to Sorell/Tasman Peninsula.  Take a right at the lights in Sorell.  Then take the 2nd right, onto C334, heading towards Dodges Ferry.  1.5 kms after the Dodges Ferry shops the road bends sharply left and there is a phone box on your right .  Take next right onto the Park Beach Road.

By Bus:

Bus access from the Hobart CBD to Park Beach is provided by Smith’s Surf to City Coaches (03-6265-9169.)  Tell the bus driver to let you out at Payeena Street.  This service is available year round, all days except Sunday.  They also offer concession fares.  Let us know if you are arriving by bus and we can alter our schedule to suit you.

Area Attractions:

Park Beach and the Dodges Ferry area provide heaps of activities.  As of January 2010 a food van is operating from the car park.  Right above the beach car park and with a spectacular view of the beach is the 1 on Park art gallery.  Just down the road from that is Panogana Pottery.  The town shops provide the necessities such as a bakery and news agent, and you can treat your body and soul at the Down To Earth Wholistic Therapy Centre.  Of course if you’d like to keep to the beach there’s a beautiful 3 km walk to the river mouth.

New from November 2008 is the Dodges Artisans and Farmers Market.  This community market is held from November through April at the Boat Park on Tigerhead Road in Dodges Ferry, on the 1st Sunday of the month from 10am - 3pm.

Clifton Beach

Metro Tasmania runs a surf bus providing access to Clifton Beach during weekdays in January.  This bus drops you at the corner of the beach road and Bicheno street.  At other times during the year the bus drops you at South Arm road, a 4-km walk.
